Much of the criticism leveled at Colbert claims that he wasn't funny; I disagree. He was funny. But the humor was overwhelmed by the reality of an incompetent, dishonest and fundamentally broken Presidency, and the willing complicity of a fat and comfortable press, too cozy in its position to have any objectivity.

This President is frequently perceived to be a Bubble Boy, protected from harsh realities by his handlers, too disengaged to read the newspapers or watch television news. But now, thanks to Stephen Colbert, we all know that he can't say that he'd never been told.
